Sexual Harassment Awareness Training - Helping UK SMEs comply with the Law and Put People First.
The Law Has Already Changed - Have You?
Many UK employers are still unaware of the new legal duty to prevent sexual harassment, or mistakenly believe their existing policies are enough. That misunderstanding isn’t just risky, it could be unlawful.
Since October 2024, all UK employers have been required to take proactive steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace under the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act.
Doing nothing is no longer defensible. A policy sitting in a drawer won’t protect your people—or your business. Employers must be able to show they’ve taken real, practical action to create a safe, respectful working environment.
What’s This New Law and What Does It Mean for Me?
So, under the Worker Protection Act all employers are now legally required to:
- Take proactive measures to prevent sexual harassment
- Create a workplace culture that supports dignity and inclusion
- Be able to demonstrate what steps they’ve taken if challenged
To stay compliant (and to protect your people), you need to show that your team understands what harassment looks like, how to report concerns, and what actions are expected from managers.
And there is more to come: from 2026, employers may be held liable if an employee is harassed by a third party (such as a customer, contractor, or supplier) and no preventative measures were in place. This means the importance of culture, clarity, and confidence in reporting mechanisms will only grow.
Training - the Smartest Way to Meet Your Legal Duty
Training is not just helpful, it’s one of the most widely recognised and effective ways to meet your new legal obligations and reduce risk.
Employment tribunals and the EHRC consistently treat training, especially for managers, as a key indicator of whether those steps have been taken.
In other words: If you’re not offering training, you may struggle to show you’ve met your legal duty.
Training is also the best way to:
- Educate your team
- Build confidence in reporting
- Reduce the risk of future claims
- Shift your culture from reactive to preventative
